The Gift of Clean Teeth

Check your student’s backpack for toothpaste Friday, December 14th. The Rotary Club donated a tube of toothpaste for every RBES student!

 

Attendance Reminders

The school day begins at 9:25 am. If a student arrives at 9:25 am or later they are considered tardy. Students that are tardy must be signed in by an adult.

If your child is absent, please send a note with your student when they return to excuse the absence. Absence notes can be emailed to Mrs. Kwon at Helen_Kwon@hcpss.org .

Toys for Tots at Running Brook Elementary School

Running Brook Elementary School will, once again, host the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Toys for Tots Event on the morning of December 24th. If you would like to attend, please contact Mrs. Hartlove and arrange to pick up a pass from our front office. This pass will verify that you have children enrolled at Running Brook and will allow you to attend the event and choose gifts, without your children being present.

 

2018- 2019 RBES Spelling Bee

  • Open to all 4th and 5th grade students
  • ELA class Spelling Bees will be completed by January 4th. Practice packets will be provided.
  • The top two winners from each ELA class will advance to the school-wide bee.
  • The school-wide bee will occur on January 11th at 2:30 in the cafeteria, with a snow date of January 18th.
  • The winner of the school-wide bee and one alternate will go onto the county-wide bee at River Hill on March 8th (snow date of March 9th).

 

Free Winter Lunch Program

Free Lunch will be offered to all children under 18 years of age on Thursday, December 27 and Friday December 28, 2018 during the winter school break, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, at the following locations:

East Columbia Branch Library

There are no application requirements or cost to families for this winter lunch program.

The Winter Break Meals Program will be provided by the Howard County Public School System in collaboration with Howard County Department of Community Resources and Services, the Howard County Library System and the Community Action Council of Howard County.

A Note from the RBES Music Department

The 5th Grade Chorus will be performing winter music at the Columbia Mall on Wednesday, December 19th from 11:30 AM-12:00 PM. The singers have been working very hard and would love for family to attend!

The Running Brook Winter Concert will take place on Monday, January 14 at 7:00 PM at Wilde Lake High School. Our musicians have put in a lot of time and effort this semester, and are excited to share their performance with family and friends.

4th Grade Family Paint Night

4th Grade Families SAVE THE DATE for new date for 4th Grade Family SEL/Paint Night on January 17, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Invitations will be sent home after winter break.

 

The Clothing-to-Cash Bin

Have bags of old clothing, bedding, and backpacks lying around? Donate your fabric goods and help our school raise money! The white Clothing-to-Cash bin by the cafeteria door accepts your old textiles and puts them to good use while helping us fund school events and support families in need.
