Virtual Back to School Nights
Below is the schedule for our virtual Back to School Nights the week of September 21st. This is an opportunity for parents to hear from the grade level team about the schedule and other grade level specific topics. Join the one of the sessions listed below via Google Meet and be sure to use your child's HCPSS ID.
Emergency Card Procedures on Family File
HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Regardless of virtual or in-person learning, parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child. Parents/guardians can complete Family File by logging in to HCPSS Connect, selecting the More Options tab on the left, and then selecting Family File in the center column. Family File guides are available online.
School Meals & FARMS Application
Meals will consist of Grab-and-Go breakfasts and lunches served Monday through Friday from 8–9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m., beginning Tuesday, September 8th. We will use the cafeteria doors in the front bus loop at Running Brook Elementary.
Parents of students who qualify for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FARMs) must submit a new application every school year. View program details and learn how to apply.
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run Registration is open NOW : Girls on the Run® inspires girls in grades 3-5 to be joyful, healthy, and confident by using running to teach valuable life skills. Teams of 15-20 girls meet twice weekly for 10 weeks. Each season concludes with the girls and their running buddies completing a 5k run. Practice will begin Monday, September 28. Meetings will be virtual and in person.

Blessings in a Backpack
Did you know we have a Blessings in a Backpack Program at RBES? Blessings in a Backpack sends additional food resources home to students on the weekend. During a traditional school year, bags are discretely put in a student's backpack on Friday afternoons. Running Brook staff delivered to 125 students over the spring/summer!
Our Blessings in a Backpack Program is entirely funded by individual and community-based donations. This is not funded by HCPSS.
If you are interested in receiving Blessings you must click the registration link below.

Grab & Go Meals
During virtual learning, we will be distributing during Grab and Goes. Grab and Go hours are
8 - 9am and 10:45 to 12:45pm. Meals are free to everyone through December.
The food looks amazing! Everyone is learning the new Nutrislice system but do you know you can preorder breakfast and lunches for the week????? And you can designate someone else to pick it up for you????? Download the app today!
Anytime you go in the morning you can pick up breakfast and lunch for that day (without preordering). Parents don't need to have their children with them and children don't need their parents with them.
Immunizations--Even Though We are Virtual
Immunizations are required by state law to attend school, including virtually, and are vital for children’s overall health and wellness. HCPSS Health Services continues to partner with the Howard County Health Department and the Maryland Partnership for Prevention to offer several free immunization clinics for any student who may need them.
Weekly Related Arts Lessons
Each week students will have two or three live related arts classes. Throughout the week students should complete asynchronous assignments for the related arts classes they did not have live during the week. Wednesdays are a great day to complete these assignments. Students are not required to complete asynchronous assignments until they meet with their related arts teacher for the first time.
Technology Support
Please find below information regarding technology support for fall virtual instruction that includes both self-help resources and how to request technology support.
If after reviewing these resources, your family continues to need support, please complete the Student and Family Technology Support Request form and one of our staff members will reach out to you as soon as possible. If you cannot access the online form for any reason, please call the school at 410-313-6893.
Staff will attempt to resolve the issue, and if unsuccessful will provide directions for exchanging the broken device for a working one at the school system’s Onsite Technology Center.
