Panther Press - 16th Edition

Note from Principal

Good Afternoon Running Brook Families,

This week has been filled with excitement. On Monday we welcomed back 58 students in grades PreK - 5th. Students and staff spent the week figuring out how to navigate school in this Covid world. It's been wonderful to have our classrooms, hallways, and cafeteria filled with the sound of voices and laughter. We look forward to welcoming back our A group and B group students over the next few weeks. Mrs. Spivey and I want to thank our Running Brook families for their ongoing support during this transition.

Thank you for all that you do to support the staff of RBES! ~ Mr. Esposito

NEWS & EVENTS

Opportunity for Evening Academic Support
Howard County Students K-5 who are experiencing challenges to attending classes during the day and need help getting caught up can be signed up to virtually attend Innovative Pathways to Learning.  There are two one-hour Google Meet session options, starting at 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays every week. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend with their children. Sessions provide 20- 30 minutes of direct support for ELA or mathematics in a small group. The teacher has access to curriculum for that week and can often review specific lessons and skills. The second half of the session students and parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and get support completing any missing assignments across content areas.

The program does not take the place of regular class attendance, but can help fill in gaps and be used to support instruction. If you are interested in registering your child to attend an evening academic session, please complete this form and a Student Support Team member will be in touch. Please note that our school is provided a limited number of slots per week and we will do our best to get our students registered as soon as possible in the order that we receive requests."

School Wide Title I Program
Did you know that Running Brook has a school-wide Title I program? Title I is a federally funded program designed to ensure that all children have an opportunity to access a high quality education. The goal of this federal program is to close the achievement gap for all students.
Also, during virtual learning,  we were able to use Title I funds to purchase materials to support your child’s at home learning. We hope you were able to pick up the first set of learning materials. If not, please let us know so we can help you make arrangements. There will be opportunities to pick up more Title I learning materials later in the year.

Please view our school parent compact using this link:

We welcome any feedback or questions related to our Title I school wide programming, at anytime throughout the school year. Please email Jodi Aikens at Jodi_Aikens@hcpss.org, Kim Filler at Kimberly_Filler@hcpss.org, or our Family Involvement Coordinator, Jane Hartlove at Jane_Hartlove@hcpss.org.
